External Media to Immerse Yourself in the Story of Final Fantasy 15

I’ve recently got into the world of Final Fantasy 15 again and I’m so hooked. I mostly got my info for this list from Wikipedia and Reddit. In this post or article, I have two lists that each provide a different path for fully exploring FFXV’s world: one is a list of media to consume before playing the video game and the other is a list of the same media to consume alongside playing the video game.

Media to consume, in order, before playing Final Fantasy 15:

Brotherhood(animation series)

Brotherhood is a 5 episode anime that gives a backstory on Noctis and his friends’ histories.

Kingsglaive(movie)

It covers what happens to Insomnia, Noctis’s father, Regis, and Lunafreya while the first chapter of FFXV takes place. There is more focus on the original character Nyx Ulric who serves under King Regis’s elite soldier force known as the Kingsglaive.

King’s Tale: Final Fantasy XV(video game)

A King’s Tale: Final Fantasy XV is a 2D, side-scrolling brawler set 30 years before the events of Final Fantasy XV.

Platinum Demo: Final Fantasy XV(video game)

This playable demo shows what Noct did while he was bedridden. While exploring the world of his dreams, Noctis Lucis Caelum collects yellow crystals.

Parting Ways(web novel or novella)

This web novel is a direct prologue to the game. This short novella is a translated script of an audio drama released in Japan which covers the events that take place right before the beginning of the game. It is partially concurrent with Kingsglaive so you may watch it after the Brotherhood anime series and before Kingsglaive as well.
