I did not include exclusive VR games. By the way, I did not play all of these games; I’ve only played about half of the games here, so I am relying on external reviews and watching Radbrad to put the games I haven’t played yet, on this list. I’ve only written reviews for the games I’ve played and only put plot summaries and reviewer ratings for the games that I haven’t played yet. Anyway, I hope you enjoy the list.
- Horizon Zero Dawn
Horizon Zero Dawn by Insomniac is the best teen rated ps4 exclusive and probably its sequel for the ps5 will be as well. It features a beautiful and large world that can make any gamer want to finish every mission, side mission, and just go exploring aimlessly; looking at decayed relics of the modern world and the entrancing growth that came from its destruction. The combat is very gratifying as one can use resourcefulness to take on any machine in a variety of ways. Planning, identifying weaknesses, and quick reflexes are needed to take down the colossal monsters that will come for you. Lastly, the story is just *chef’s kiss sound*. You get to see a protagonist who has suffered so much discrimination become a saviour to those who have wronged her and uncover the great mysteries of her world. Go buy it if you haven’t already!
2. Spiderman Series
Again another action-packed Insomniac series that blows away the competition of other superhero games! Both spiderman games have simple controls that make you feel like you move around as easily as spiderman does. The combat system is also fricking good alongside the epic finishes. You are able to use web-based attacks, gadgets, the environment, good old brute force, and OP special powers to take on a hundred enemies and more. I love the boss battles especially because of the interactable scenes that would occur in parts of fights and the wild spectacles that make you take the villains seriously. Lastly, I love collecting the suits because of the special abilities they give and how good they look. “At its core, Insomniac Games’ new adventure strives to make you feel like Spider-Man” — IGN.
3. Uncharted series games(Uncharted 1–4, ‘Uncharted: The Lost Legacy’)
- When I first started playing Uncharted: Nathan Drake Collection(Uncharted 1–3), I was surprised by how different it looked compared to modern games. My eyes took time to adjust but in the end, the graphics being outdated were overshadowed by positives. The story was the best(especially in uncharted 2), environmental obstacles were easy to navigate, and solving the puzzles in uncharted made you feel smart.
- Uncharted 4 builds on its predecessors, greatly improving by adapting to modern standards. Graphics are better in cutscenes and during gameplay, you can slide now and use a grappling hook, and the protagonist Nathan is still as witty as ever. The high quality of the story is retained and I am sure this game will not disappoint.
- ‘Uncharted: Lost Legacy’ is “set after the events of Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End. Chloe Frazer enlists the aid of renowned mercenary Nadine Ross in order to recover the Tusk of Ganesh, an Indian artefact Chloe’s own father became obsessed with. They also endeavour to keep it out of the hands of Asav (Usman Ally), a ruthless war profiteer who endeavours to use the Tusk for his own personal gain. Together, they venture deep into the mountains of India in search of the legendary artefact. Along the way, they learn to work together to unearth the mystery of the artefact, fight their way through fierce opposition, and prevent the region from falling into chaos.” — Uncharted Wiki. This game has an ign review score of 7.5/10, a Metascore of 84, and a 94% approval rating from Google users.
4. Infamous series(‘inFAMOUS Second Son’, ‘inFamous: First Light’)
- ‘inFAMOUS Second Son’ is underrated. There are so many things that it allows you to do in terms of combat, exploration, and interaction. Seattle is a huge area for you to dominate or save its citizens and kill or subdue the oppressive military presence. The powers given allow you to attack enemies with pleasing visuals and sound effects and allows you to explore the city by flying, speeding, and turning into smoke. The story is good. I believe that some improvement could’ve been made on the karma system and the narrative but overall it’s a good buy.
- ‘inFamous: First Light’ is basically a DLC for ‘inFAMOUS Second Son. The story is touching but it’s short. There are fewer powers overall in this game compared to ‘inFAMOUS Second Son’ but the added abilities to the neon superpower are enough to make up for it. I would have to say that the added speed really made me like this game.
